Daniel 12 End of The World

Daniel chapter 12 starts out with action in heaven. This is the marker of when the time of probation is ended. No one will be able to change their minds after this point. All have decided. The books in heaven are closed. Jesus has declared that those who are good will stay that way and those who are bad will stay that way. God's people are not going to change to Satan's team. Michael will stand up and the terrible time of trouble will begin. This trouble will be worse than this earth has ever seen. God's people would be protected and delivered. Death of God's people won't help anyone choose God after this point. No one will change teams from here on out.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Dan. 12:1.

When the third angel's message closes, mercy no longer pleads for the guilty inhabitants of the earth. The people of God have accomplished their work. They have received "the latter rain," "the . . . refreshing . . . from the presence of the Lord," and they are prepared for the trying hour before them. Angels are hastening to and fro in heaven. An angel returning from the earth announces that his work is done; the final test has been brought upon the world, and all who have proved themselves loyal to the divine precepts have received "the seal of the living God." Then Jesus ceases His intercession in the sanctuary above. He lifts His hands and with a loud voice says, "It is done." . .{Mar 265.1}
Here are some facts about this time right after probation closes. There is no more time of mercy. All who have not chosen God's laws and desired His character, will never change after this point. You can read more about each one at the end of this lesson.

1. Darkness covers people on earth (Probably means spiritual darkness?)

2. Wicked are allowed to do all the evil they think up.

3. Satan allowed to do all the evil he can think up.

4. All elements of strife will happen. (all who are angry will fight anyone)

5. The plagues or punishments begin to fall at this point. You can study these in Revelation studies on the chapter called "plagues".

6. The rulers of nations are left by God's angels to the power of Satan. They will make laws that are terrible.

7. The evil people will blame God's people for the plague punishments and will set up a death decree on them.

8. Leading men of the earth will set up a death decree and send copies of it all over the earth. These leaders are surrounded by Satan's angels. But God's people have heavens mighty guards about them. Any attempt to kill God's people now would not help any one choose God. Their weapons are powerless. Powerful angels protect.

9. This death decree will be very much like the one made on Jews at the time of Esther. Read this story in the book of Esther. Look at it as a prophecy.

10. God will not protect traitors to HIS laws. Those who break the 7th day Sabbath will not be protected during the death decree.

All God's people who have their names written in the book will be guarded during this time after probation has closed. When God's people are finally delivered, there will be a resurrection of the dead. Some will get the gift of life forever. Others will be ashamed because of all they had done. (Daniel 12:2) (Daniel 12:2)
The wise people will shine like the brightness of the firmament. (Daniel 12:3.)  It sounds like the woman clothed with the sun and the stars on her head and moon at her feet. (Revelation 12)

These people have helped many people during their lifetime. They have taught the truth about God.

Then the angel told Daniel to seal his book. That means it would not be understood completely until the end of time. Right now in our day, many are understanding it more because almost everything has happened. But still there are time periods mentioned that are short pieces of time. (like the 45 days) (Daniel 12:4)
Daniel saw a person on each side of the bank of the river. One asked the man dressed in white clothes that was standing on the river how long to the end. The man standing on the waters of the river held up his hand and his left hand to heaven and said it would be a time, times and a half.  (1260 days)

A time= a year=360 days

times= 2 years = 720 days

Half a year is 180 days

TOTAL= 1260 days

Daniel did not understand what he heard. He asked God what it meant, but God told him the information was for the very end of time. God promised to help the wise understand. (Daniel 12:10)
Next Daniel was told that from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination of desolation set up there would be 1290 days.  That is 30 days longer than 1260. I wonder what this is! Then he was told that there would be a special blessing for those who come to the 1,335 days. That is another 45 days!
That number is different from the 1290 days by a piece of 45 days. Since no one, not even angels know the day and hour of Jesus' coming, this number of days is a mystery puzzle. (Mathew 24:36) I would never try to determine when Jesus is coming. We can know when the time is near by fulfilled signs. I am praying and studying daily to understand this. Could it be a warning that the time of difficulty could last 3 years and 7 months? There is a blessing on those who wait it out 45 days. There is a blessing to those who keep on trusting Jesus even if it takes longer for Him to come then they expected.
We can know when it is very near by the signs that we have been given. It sounds like the very worst trouble starts about the time that the decree is made for forcing people to keep Sunday as God's holy rest day. They will try to force people to do this instead of worshiping on the seventh day, as God requires. It will last long enough that God's people will get very tired of it. God's people need faith. They will have to hang on even if the trouble lasts longer than they expect. Some expect it will last just a few days. Those people need lots of faith and patience  if it drags out for three years.

1. What happens when Michael stands up?

2. What is the amount of days given that happens after the abomination of desolation is set up at the end of time?

3. What happened in the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70 that marked the abomination of desolation?

4. What does Daniel 12:12 say about another 45 days?

(Blessed is he that waits)

5. Are any of God's people killed after Michael stands up?

6. What about their death decree? Do any  of God's people die during this? Why?

7. What happens to eyes, mouth and skin of those getting the plagues?

(Zechariah 14: 12, &13)

This concludes the Daniel studies. I wish I had more information on this last mystery numbers. As time lasts, we continue to pray to understand this. (1290 days, 1335 days)
I want to know the mystery of these days mentioned. I think it is a warning that the time is not a real short piece like a month.
12:12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

See the very end of the lesson to read what scriptures I have used to understand this more fully.

{Mar 265.1} (Maranatha by Ellen White)
When He leaves the sanctuary, darkness covers the inhabitants of the earth. In that fearful time the righteous must live in the sight of a holy God without an intercessor. The restraint which has been upon the wicked is removed, and Satan has entire control of the finally impenitent. God's long-suffering has ended. The world has rejected His mercy, despised His love, and trampled upon His law. The wicked have passed the boundary of their probation; the Spirit of God, persistently resisted, has been at last withdrawn. Unsheltered by divine grace, they have no protection from the wicked one. Satan will then plunge the inhabitants of the earth into one great, final trouble. As the angels of God cease to hold in check the fierce winds of human passion, all the elements of strife will be let loose. The whole world will be involved in ruin more terrible than that which came upon Jerusalem of old. {Mar 265.2}

The present is a time of overwhelming interest to all living. Rulers and statesmen, men who occupy positions of trust and authority, thinking men and women of all classes, have their attention fixed upon the events taking place about us. They are watching the strained, restless relations that exist among the nations. They observe the intensity that is taking possession of every earthly element, and they realize that something great and decisive is about to take place--that the world is on the verge of a stupendous crisis. {Mar 266.3}
Angels are now restraining the winds of strife, until the world shall be warned of its coming doom; but a storm is gathering, ready to burst upon the earth, and when God shall bid His angels loose the winds, there will be such a scene of strife as no pen can picture. . . . {Mar 266.4}
When Christ ceases His intercession in the sanctuary, the unmingled wrath threatened against those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark (Revelation 14:9, 10), will be poured out. The plagues upon Egypt when God was about to deliver Israel were similar in character to those more terrible and extensive judgments which are to fall upon the world just before the final deliverance of God's people. Says the revelator, in describing those terrific scourges:

...

These plagues are not universal, or the inhabitants of the earth would be wholly cut off. Yet they will be the most awful scourges that have ever been known to mortals. All the judgments upon men, prior to the close of probation, have been mingled with mercy.

"And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. And it shall come to pass in that day that a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbor." [ZECH. 14:12, 13.] In the mad strife of their own fierce passions, and by the awful outpouring of God's unmingled wrath, fall the wicked inhabitants of the earth,--priests, rulers, and people, rich and poor, high and low. "And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried." [JER. 25:33.] {GC88 656.3}
When Jesus leaves the most holy, His restraining Spirit is withdrawn from rulers and people. They are left to the control of evil angels. Then such laws will be made by the counsel and direction of Satan, that unless time should be very short, no flesh could be saved. {Mar 268.1}
I saw that the four angels would hold the four winds until Jesus' work was done in the sanctuary, and then will come the seven last plagues. These plagues enraged the wicked against the righteous; they thought that we had brought the judgments of God upon them, and that if they could rid the earth of us, the plagues would then be stayed. A decree went forth to slay the saints, which caused them to cry day and night for deliverance. This was the time of Jacob's trouble. {Mar 268.2} Maranatha
I saw the leading men of the earth consulting together, and Satan and his angels busy around them. I saw a writing, copies of which were scattered in different parts of the land, giving orders that unless the saints should yield their peculiar faith, give up the Sabbath, and observe the first day of the week, the people were at liberty after a certain time to put them to death. {Mar 268.3}
Though a general decree has fixed the time when commandment keepers may be put to death, their enemies will in some cases anticipate the decree, and before the time specified, will endeavor to take their lives. But none can pass the mighty guardians stationed about every faithful soul. Some are assailed in their flight from the cities and villages; but the swords raised against them break and fall powerless as a straw. Others are defended by angels in the form of men of war. {Mar 268.4}
With sympathizing tenderness, angels have witnessed their distress and have heard their prayers. They are waiting the word of their Commander to snatch them from their peril. But they must wait yet a little longer. The people of God must drink of the cup and be baptized with the baptism. {Mar 268.5}

Could this be the 45 day wait?

More Details for the student who wants to know about end events. (God has not left us in the dark about the wild crazy things that are about to happen)
The decree that will finally go forth against the remnant people of God will be very similar to that issued by Ahasuerus against the Jews. {Mar 269.1}
When the protection of human laws shall be withdrawn from those who honor the law of God, there will be, in different lands, a simultaneous movement for their destruction. As the time appointed in the decree draws near, the people will conspire to root out the hated sect. It will be determined to strike in one night a decisive blow, which shall utterly silence the voice of dissent and reproof. {Mar 269.2}
The decree will go forth that they must disregard the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and honor the first day, or lose their lives; but they will not yield, and trample under their feet the Sabbath of the Lord, and honor an institution of papacy. Satan's host and wicked men will surround them, and exult over them, because there will seem to be no way of escape for them. {Mar 269.3}
Men have broken God's laws, and despised and trampled on His Sabbath. Thus they have broken their contract with God, and He cannot work in their behalf. The Lord tells us in words too plain to be misapprehended that that metal of the faith of His once chosen people is corrupted. They have a spurious faith. They have changed leaders, and no longer bear the King's sign. They cannot be trusted in time of test or trial, for they will act the traitor's part. They do not draw from the Lord's foundry. {15MR 36.1}
God will never, never allow any man to pass through the pearly gates of the city of God who does not bear the signet of the faithful, His government mark. Every soul who is saved will cherish pure principles, which proceed from the very essence of truth.
He must fasten himself by golden links to the everlasting power and love of the God of truth. He must be loyal to the principles of God's word, loyal to the everlasting covenant which is a sign between man and his Maker. {15MR 36.2} Manuscript Releases  by Ellen White
 If I thought it would last only one week, I would not do much to get ready in my heart. My faith needs to be able to make it through a long piece of time. I think many expect it will be "cut short" enough that there is no danger of giving up. In 1999 I lost my home because of losses like Job went through. I  had to camp in a tent for almost a year. Cooking for four little children and trying to keep clothes dry during storms was a real trial of my faith. When the little ones wet their sleeping bags, I would sob for it was so hard to get them clean and dry. Someone gave us an old trailer that leaked terribly and had mold throughout as well as broken plumbing. We have tried to survive in cold 20 degree below zero (Fahrenheit). My faith has been tried. I thought I would soon be in a nice home again but 2 years have passed. Many days I have shed tears during the storms while 55 gallons of rain water poured into the kitchen and we had to empty 5 gallon buckets. My faith is tried to the max. Deserted by people we thought were friends,  I have turned to God for comfort. My home is in heaven. It won't be long. But if I think of another 3 years, how could I possibly make it? If I was living in a cave it would be worse. I must be positive. This is the struggle God's people will go through. I think that these days are a warning to us. We need to store in extra oil. (I mean memorize Bible, pray, and recall God's blessings so your faith is strong. That is what the parable of the 10 bridesmaids teaches.)  We must do this now before the real storm hits. This is no ordinary storm. We need to study the Bible more so we will have more faith. This is the beautiful lesson God has taught me during my loss. I have changed my hope for a home into a dream for a cabin where I can record programs for televising to all the children of  the world these lessons. These Bible lessons are so precious, they must be shared. It is more important than anything in the world to me. We have this hope that Jesus is Coming again and soon.

This is what I have thought about on this mystery number

Daniel 12:11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12:12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

This time frame may be a literal number of days. It is not surrounded by symbolic statements. It may be that after the Romans put their center for enforcing the false Sabbath in the holy city Jerusalem that from that point there will be a process that takes 1,290 days. ( 3 yr  and 7 months)

We are to pray that our flight be not on Sabbath or in winter.

"Pray ye that your flight be not in the winter; neither on the Sabbath day," Christ said. He who made the Sabbath did not abolish it, nailing it to His cross. The Sabbath was not rendered null and void by His death. Forty years after His crucifixion it was still to be held sacred. For forty years the disciples were to pray that their flight might not be on the Sabbath day. {DA 630.4}"Pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day." Christ made the Sabbath, and he never abolished it. The Sabbath was not rendered null and void by the crucifixion, as many claim. Christ's death on the cross is an unanswerable argument in favor of the changeless character of every precept of God's holy law. {RH, December 20, 1898 par. 9}

We are to flee when the sign of the Sunday law enforcement occurs. God will show His people where to go. All homes, lands and belongings will be taken from the commandment keepers.

Christ tells us when that day shall be ushered in. He does not say that all the world will be converted, but that "this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." By giving the gospel to the world it is in our power to hasten our Lord's return. We are not only to look for but to hasten the coming of the day of God. 2 Peter 3:12, margin. Desire of Ages 364

Christ gave His disciples a sign of the ruin to come on Jerusalem, and He told them how to escape: "When ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter there into. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled." This warning was given to be heeded forty years after, at the destruction of Jerusalem. The Christians obeyed the warning, and not a Christian perished in the fall of the city. {DA 630.3}
"Pray ye that your flight be not in the winter; neither on the Sabbath day," Christ said. He who made the Sabbath did not abolish it, nailing it to His cross. The Sabbath was not rendered null and void by His death. Forty years after His crucifixion it was still to be held sacred. For forty years the disciples were to pray that their flight might not be on the Sabbath day. {DA 630.4}

The Savior's prophecy concerning the visitation of judgments upon Jerusalem is to have another fulfillment, of which that terrible desolation was but a faint shadow. In the fate of the chosen city we may behold the doom of a world that has rejected God's mercy and trampled upon his law. Dark are the records of human misery that earth has witnessed during its long centuries of crime. The heart sickens and the mind grows faint in contemplation. Terrible have been the results of rejecting the authority of Heaven. But a scene yet darker is presented in the revelations of the future. The records of the past,--the long procession of tumults, conflicts, and revolutions, the "battle of the warrior, with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood," [ISA. 9:5.]--what are these, in contrast with the terrors of that day when the restraining Spirit of God shall be wholly withdrawn from the wicked, no longer to hold in check the outburst of human passion and Satanic wrath! The world will then behold, as never before, the results of Satan's rule. {GC88 37.1} Great Controversy by Ellen White

The abomination that fit the prophecy for the first fall of Jerusalem that Jesus prophesied was fulfilled when they camped outside on the region of holy ground outside Jerusalem. What is that final abomination that also is described in this prophecy? Let us look at the first one to help us understand the second.

"When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoever reads, let him understand:) then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains." Matthew 24:15, 16; Luke 21:20, 21. When the idolatrous standards of the Romans should be set up in the holy ground, which extended some furlongs outside the city walls, then the followers of Christ were to find safety in flight. When the warning sign should be seen, those who would escape must make no delay. Throughout the land of Judea, as well as in Jerusalem itself, the signal for flight must be immediately obeyed. He who chanced to be upon the housetop must not go down into his house, even to save his most valued treasures. Those who were working in the fields or vineyards must not take time to return for the outer garment laid aside while they should be toiling in the heat of the day. They must not hesitate a moment, lest they be involved in the general destruction. {GC 25.4}

Lot placed himself under the guardianship of the heavenly messengers, and was saved. So Christ's disciples were given warning of the destruction of Jerusalem. Those who watched for the sign of the coming ruin, and fled from the city, escaped the destruction. So now we are given warning of Christ's second coming and of the destruction to fall upon the world. Those who heed the warning will be saved. {Mar 36.1}
Because we know not the exact time of His coming, we are commanded to watch. "Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching." Luke 12:37. Those who watch for the Lord's coming are not waiting in idle expectancy. The expectation of Christ's coming is to make men fear the Lord, and fear His judgments upon transgression. It is to awaken them to the great sin of rejecting His offers of mercy. Those who are watching for the Lord are purifying their souls by obedience to the truth. With vigilant watching they combine earnest working. Because they know that the Lord is at the door, their zeal is quickened to co-operate with the divine intelligences

We are not trying to discover the day and hour of the coming of Jesus. We are studying these times for they are written for our benefit.

 There are those who claim to know the very day and hour of our Lord's appearing. Very earnest are they in mapping out the future. But the Lord has warned them off the ground they occupy. The exact time of the second coming of the Son of man is God's mystery. {DA 632.4}

I weep for those who refuse to seek God now while He can become our FRIEND.

(Jesus)He wept for the doomed thousands of Jerusalem,--because of the blindness and impenitence of those whom he came to bless and save. {4SP 18.1}Spirit of Prophecy vol. 4

Here is the Bible account. Read it again and then study the notes I have collected at the end.

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.
12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
12:5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
12:6 And [one] said to the man clothed in linen, which [was] upon the waters of the river, How long [shall it be to] the end of these wonders?
12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which [was] upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that [it shall be] for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these [things] shall be finished. 12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what [shall be] the end of these [things]?
12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
12:11 And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12:12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

12:13 But go thou thy way till the end [be]: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

For more study on the book of Daniel and Revelation explaining the end events read Great Controversy by Ellen White. I found it good reading when I was a teenager. It shaped my life. The last 100 pages give a detailed account of the end of the world. I have read the whole book many times in my lifetime. The last 100 pages I have read hundreds of times. It is packed with good information. If you do not know where to buy one of these books and would like to get a copy of the Great Controversy. Write to me at Biblelessons@starband.net
